".. Annett Zinsmeister (°1967 Stuttgart) uses sections of Plattenbau of the former GDR and builds new spaces by multiplying them. Outside turns into inside, doors are leading into emptiness. Architectural elements were used like ornaments to create new virtual spaces. The repetitiveness brings about a new structure. The final technique of large sized light boxes underlines the optical impression. In her art work Annett Zinsmeister is concerned with cultural influence of architecture. The principal of the series is her main emphasis. Through the endless repetition of segments she brings to light the fascination and the deterrent of mass architecture." "Twelve photographs taken from different art magazines served as a starting point for this project. They give a view of a gallery or museum space where works of art are exhibited. Omitting the art works, the depicted rooms have been reconstructed in the form of 3-dimensional architectural maquettes, each representing a section of an exhibition room. The models present only half of the project. The other half consists of two pages in an art magazine with images of empty exhibition rooms. For this purpose each maquette has been photographed from one particular point of view, similar to the original photographs in the magazines. The exhibition of the models took place in Museum Fodor in November 1990 and the pages where published in Artcribe #84, November 1990."
