George Korsmit - Installation view 'Out of Nowhere'
Ellen de Bruijne Projects, April/May 2006

"In my paintings colour plays an independent game of immaterial occurrences.Colours are assembled and placed through a strict system of chance and choice, conceived to give them the freedom to stay in motion. The ultimate goal is, by using only colour, to make paintings which are humorous, irritating, impossible to catch at a glance, elusive and hard to remember. Leaving you feeling disorientated and confused. Hypnotized." George Korsmit

Hans Schabus

Hans Schabus - “Das letzte Land” (2005)
Installatie Oostenrijks paviljoen, Biennale di Venezia 2005

"Instead of the pavilion building, visitors will be confronted with a huge barrier rising in front of them like a massif with the pavilion only looking out at its far corners. The outside is as rejective as the inside is accessible: along labyrinthine staircases, the way leads up to the summit where viewers will finally be granted a look at the sea and the city through skylights. With a bold gesture, Hans Schabus’ work “The Last Land” transfers the myth of the mountain enveloping Austria to the city on the lagoon built on water." (Hans Schabus °1970 Oostenrijk)

Pascal Mueller - CityEngine - Spiralcity

"The CityEngine is a software for the creative and efficient creation of digital architecture. Modeling a city poses a number of problems to computer graphics. Every urban area has a transportation network that follows population and environmental influences, and often a superimposed pattern plan. The buildings appearances follow historical, aesthetic and statutory rules. To create a virtual city, a roadmap has to be designed and a large number of buildings need to be generated. We propose a system using a procedural approach based on L-systems to model cities. From various image maps given as input, such as land-water boundaries and population density, our system generates a system of highways and streets, divides the land into lots, and creates the appropriate geometry for the buildings on the respective allotments." Robert Walden - ontological road map 051506 (DETAIL)

"Ontology is a central theme throughout my work because it deals with the nature of existence or being by analyzing concepts about essence, substance, time, location, space, and identity. My work addresses these ideas by building upon physical, temporal, and literal metaphors that are often used to convey ideas about a process as well as a product. For instance, each drawing is not only a finished work that represents a place, but it is also a reflection of the hand of the artist, the act of making lines. Each of these drawings involves a labor-intensive process where much time is needed for construction and development. Once the drawing is complete, it is a picture of time." Robert Walden
