Philipp Schaerer - Bildbauten

"The focus of Schaerer’s work is not in the meticulous imitation of photographic images, but more on the question of photographic style images perception, the relationship between appearance and reality, perception and arrangement." (txt: archporn.wordpress.com)

Alex MacLean - Circular Housing Development
Sun City, Arizona

"Pilot and photographer Alex MacLean has flown his plane over much of the United States documenting the landscape. Trained as an architect, he has portrayed the history and evolution of the land from vast agricultural patterns to city grids, recording changes brought about by human intervention and natural processes. His powerful and descriptive images provide clues to understanding the relationship between the natural and constructed environments." (txt: www.alexmaclean.com)

Nick Ervinck @ Berlin

Nick Ervinck - GNI-RI apr2009
Yarotube & Eitoza

"Ervinck's looming sculptures, Eitoza (2009) and Yarotube (2007-2008), each straddle the boundary between the heavy weight of physical existence and the ethereal, superficial lightness that we often see in computer graphics. Their signature color, an artificial yellow, gives little away in terms of what these things are. Is Yarotube a reticulated oil pipeline or just the building infrastructure gone wild, like mushrooms? The work literally has no openings. It is strangely closed off, impenetrable, even while seeming to reference the ultra-connected internet culture that has taken shape over the last 15 years. Eitoza rises precariously from the black floor where a pattern is painted, organic and abstract." (txt: www.berlinberlin.info)

Chicago

Chicago, Tze'elim Military Base
Negev Desert, Israel
"This is 'Chicago', a fake Arab town built by Israel in the middle of the Negev desert to train its military forces in urban warfare. To create this alternative universe, Palestinian architecture has been carefully scrutinized. Roads and alleyways have been constructed to mimic the layout of towns like Ramallah and Nablus." Piet Tuytel in Atelier 2004 (Foto: rdev)

"In het werk van Piet Tuytel (°1956, NL) is vrijwel alles gerelateerd aan de menselijke maat. Door de formele en industriële uitstraling van zijn werk valt het niet direct op maar ondanks de fysieke absentie is de mens overal voelbaar in zijn werk. Tuytel gebruikt industriële gebruiksvoorwerpen als drager voor zijn beelden." (deel uit tekst van Jan Maarten Voskuil)

Mark Benett

Mark Benett - Home of Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson (Batman)

Mark Benett - Lost in Space

Mark Benett - Bewitched Samantha Stevens

"Mark Benett (°1956, Los Angeles) presents architectural drawings of movie homes from films like "Psycho", "Lost In Space" and "Batman". According to Bennett "The houses are not merely backdrops but are just as important as the characters". The artist's central concept is that, in each of these movies, the specific architectural setting actually dictates aspects of the plot and structures the actions played out within its spaces."
