Ross Racine - Evergreen Park

Ross Racine - Days and Hours of Brookdale Gardens 6 (detail)

Ross Racine - Closed Community Mapleglen (version 2)

"Drawn freehand directly on a computer and printed on a high-end inkjet printer, these works do not contain photographs nor scanned material. The subjects of the recent work of Ross Racine may be interpreted as models for planned communities as much as aerial views of fictional suburbs, referencing the computer as a tool for urban planning as well as image capture. Investigating the relation between design and actual lived experience, the works subvert the apparent rationality of urban design, exposing conflicts that lie beneath the surface."

Frank Kunert - 'at a high level'

"Frank Kunert (°1963 Frankfurt) makes models based on real life so that he can take pictures of them. He uncovers the dreams and the fears of our time by finding irony in small things"

Bert Danckaert

Bert Danckaert - 'Simple Present' (2006-...)

"The bizarre cityscapes of Bert Danckaert (°1965 Antwerp) deal with the same paradox of abstractive simplicity and a complexity of meaning and metaphor. Danckaerts still lives breathe a superficial flavour, a strangeness that is found in the familiar. Coincidental installations of sidewalks, walls and street furniture refer more to minimalist art than to conventions of street photography. In these absurd scenarios a recognizable, all too banal reality appears stage-set, props and trompe-l’oeil included, while the actors are absent." Kees Goudzwaard

Kees Goudzwaard - depot (2007)

Kees Goudzwaard - screen (2006)

(txt: SMAK)

Beam Drop

Chris Burden - Beam Drop

(txt: kunsthart.org)

Re-used in vertical

Extrude architects
Skyscraper 09 competition

"Thousands of buildings are being demolished every year adding huge loads of garbage and debris to the already vulnerable environment. Parts of the facades (and other parts too) of old buildings can become the materials of new constructions.
Deconstructing, instead of demolishing, a building and re-use its components elsewhere, saves labor, natural resources, energy and money. This project is a fictional approach of how architecture could become in the near future. It is about a skyscraper in the Greek city of Kavala. The skyscraper through the years has become a symbol of wealth and power. In this case, we attempt to inverse this social context and redefine the main character of the skyscraper. Using cheap materials that have been used before and don’t have a shiny appearance anymore, we create a whole new image of what a skyscraper could stand for as a social reflection."
